No mystique for its own sake. If a teaching cannot be said simply, I keep working at it until it can.
About
I am Nava Sanatani — a name I chose for this work rather than one I was given. It means a new voice for an old, unbroken way of seeing the world.
In my own words
For most of my early life I treated wisdom as something to be acquired — a stack of books read, ideas memorised, opinions sharpened. It took me a long while to understand that the old teachings were never meant to be collected. They were meant to be lived, slowly, in the small choices of an ordinary day.
This site is where I keep that work honest. I write about the practices that hold me together: a few quiet minutes before the world wakes, the slow reading of texts older than any nation, and the daily test of whether any of it makes me kinder.
I am not a monk, a guru, or a scholar with titles after my name. I am a householder — with work, people, and obligations like anyone. That is exactly the point. The path I care about is the one you can walk without leaving your life.
“The aim is not to escape the world, but to move through it with a quieter, steadier heart.”
If you have found your way here, you are probably asking some of the same questions I am. I hope what I write is of some use, and where it falls short, I hope you will tell me.
No mystique for its own sake. If a teaching cannot be said simply, I keep working at it until it can.
I write only about what I am actually trying to practise — not an ideal I am posing as.
Faithful to the tradition, open to the questions of the present. Old roots, present air.
Read the writings, or write to me directly. Both doors are open.
